Toy Fund Supported by The Alden and Vada Dow Family Foundations

Toy Fund Gift

Kathy Amble, R.N., comforts Alexis Nader with one of the stuffed animals purchased through funds donated by The Alden and Vada Dow Family Foundations.

Children needing comfort are being aided through support awarded to MidMichigan Medical Center–Midland by The Alden and Vada Dow Family Foundations.

A $10,000 donation has been placed in the Vada B. Dow Memorial Toy Fund to continue the distribution of stuffed animals to children seen in MidMichigan’s Emergency Department and children undergoing outpatient tests.

“It is incredible the impact that these stuffed animals continue to make,” said Robin Nelson, patient relations manager. “We talk about what we need to provide our patients. Sometimes it is the simplest of things that mean so much – like a warm blanket, a reassuring smile, calling the patient by their proper name. If you don’t try to lessen a patient’s fear, especially that of a child, nothing else really matters.”

Those interested in donating new stuffed animals or learning more about other philanthropy opportunities at MidMichigan may visit www.midmichigan.org/donations or call the Medical Center’s Fund Development Department at (989) 839-3342.
