STAR Cancer Rehabilitation Relieves Symptoms

STAR Program Logo - Survivorship Training and Rehab

Cancer patients and survivors can relieve symptoms and improve their quality of life with a special kind of rehabilitation called the STAR Program®. MidMichigan Health now offers this program in Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Isabella, Midland, Roscommon and Saginaw Counties.

Patients get a personalized rehabilitation plan that helps them increase strength and energy, alleviate pain and improve daily function. Services are covered by insurance and are offered by a team of sensitive and knowledgeable experts including physicians, physical and occupational therapists, speech pathologists, dietitians and mental health professionals.

"Patients who have undergone rigorous cancer care often have debilitating symptoms and side effects," said Joan Herbert, Pharm.D., director of Oncology Services. "However, there is growing evidence that rehabilitation during and after cancer treatment improves patient outcomes. We are thrilled to offer this program that helps our patients in their recovery."

MidMichigan Health has received STAR Program® Certification from Oncology Rehab Partners, leading experts in the field of survivorship care. This certification qualifies MidMichigan Health to offer premium oncology rehabilitation to patients and survivors.
