MidMichigan Home Care Offers Community Support for Individuals with Congestive Heart Failure and Their Loved Ones
More than five million Americans live with congestive heart failure (CHF), and it is the most prevalent cause of hospitalization in people 65 and older. Individuals who receive a diagnosis of CHF, along with their loved ones, are often overwhelmed with the lifestyle changes and medication regimens that they face. To assist individuals in their journey of living with CHF, MidMichigan Home Care is facilitating an ongoing support group for those with CHF and their loved ones.
MidMichigan Home Care will host the new support group beginning Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012. The group will meet on the third Wednesday of each month, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in Conference Room H1224, in the MidMichigan Medical Center–Midland. The new conference room is easily accessible when using the main entrance.
The group is open to individuals with CHF as well as their spouses and other support individuals. Group members will receive education, advice and support concerning common CHF issues. Monthly topics will include the basics of CHF, self-management, food labels and cooking, medications, exercise, spiritual wellness, palliative care, sex and heart failure, resources, local senior services and smoking cessation. A snack will be provided at each meeting, accompanied by nutritional information.
