Volunteer Raffle Supports Pledge to Purchase Art Piece for New Lobby
Tickets for Purchase the First Monday of Each Month Now through October
In recognition of more than 66 years of volunteer service to MidMichigan Medical Center - Midland, the Medical Center has offered the Volunteer Organization a place of honor in the newly designed lobby for placement of a monumental art piece. As a result, the Medical Center volunteers have pledged $50,000 to purchase this art piece that will be suspended from the new lobby’s ceiling.
Michigan Artist Brian Alexander has been commissioned to create this art piece. To be suspended from the new lobby’s ceiling, the piece will be large with dimensions of approximately 12 feet in diameter by 27 feet high. The art feature will be composed of 1500 to 2000 unique designs that will create a shimmering effect that will seem to bring it to life. The natural light streaming in from the large windows and air currents will make the art piece reflect a soft, embracing vitality.
“Our volunteers have supported MidMichigan Medical Center - Midland with their invaluable service and compassion for years. It is only fitting that we honor them. I can’t think of a more deserving group of individuals who expect nothing in return other than having the opportunity to help others,” said Greg Rogers, Medical Center president. “Volunteers are often the first smiles to greet patients when they enter our doors as well as say the last comforting words when families leave our building. They offer the purest form of compassion. The volunteers are the soul of the Medical Center.”
In order to raise the necessary funds needed, volunteers will sell raffle tickets on the first Monday of June and July at the entrance of the Medical Center’s Plane Tree Café and the first Monday of August, September and October at MidMichigan Medical Offices - Campus Ridge 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The next sale is scheduled for Monday, June 6.
Tickets are $25 each which gives the purchaser 18 chances to win prize money as long as the ticket is purchased prior to the first drawing. Each month for six months, beginning November 1, a drawing will be conducted for three prizes to win $250, $175 and $75. Raffle tickets may be purchased using cash or check.
