Interventional Cardiologist Brings His Expertise to Harrison

Interventional Cardiologist Kurt Duncan, M.D., is now offering cardiology appointments at his new office located in MidMichigan Medical Offices–Harrison at 815 North Clare Avenue.
Dr. Duncan received his medical degree at Louisiana State University in New Orleans and completed his residency at Detroit Medical Center, Wayne State University, where he also completed an interventional cardiology and peripheral vascular fellowship. Dr. Duncan also completed fellowships in echocardiography at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, nuclear cardiology at Yale University in Connecticut and cardiovascular medicine at New York Medical College.
Dr. Duncan chose to become cardiologist based on his interest in biology, and his natural fascination with the heart, “My interest in cardiology began during the cardiovascular section of my physiology course in medical school,” he said. “From the molecular structure and function to the clinical management of cardiovascular disease, I found all of it intriguing.”
As an interventional cardiologist, Dr. Duncan works with patients who have cardiac-related conditions such as, coronary artery disease, atherosclerosis, heart attacks, cerebrovascular disease, peripheral vascular disease, valvular and structural heart disease, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, congenital heart defects and other complex cardiac conditions.
Dr. Duncan’s philosophy of care is to take a team approach with his patients. “It’s an equal partnership between the patient and physician,” he said. “Our focus is their health. Our goal is to educate the patient and, in partnership, to achieve and maintain prolonged good health for the patient.”
As a member of the MidMichigan Physicians Group cardiovascular team, Dr. Duncan is part of a network of doctors qualified, experienced and equipped to offer the full array of cardiac care, including open heart surgery, electrophysiology for heart rhythm problems and advanced interventional cardiology procedures. He is on the medical staff at MidMichigan Medical Centers in Clare and Midland.
In addition to Dr. Duncan’s Harrison office at 815 North Clare Avenue, he will also continue to see patients in Houghton Lake at 9249 West Lake City Road and in Midland at 301 West Wackerly Street.
