Dr. Maksoud Provides Treatment in Houghton Lake for Patients with Cancer and Blood Disorders
Ahmed Abdel-Maksoud, M.D., who is with MidMichigan Physicians Group, now sees patients at MidMichigan Health Park-Houghton Lake.
Dr. Maksoud is in practice with Syed Hassan, M.D., at MidMichigan Medical Center–Midland where their main office is located in MidMichigan Medical Offices-Campus Ridge 2. As medical oncologists and hematologists, the two physicians provide advanced medical treatment options for patients who have cancer and blood disorders.
Dr. Maksoud developed a deep appreciation for health care as a young boy when he learned that simple medical advice could prevent serious illness. He was raised in Egypt, where an endemic disease caused by parasites could be easily prevented with good hygiene. Then when a family member contracted a chronic illness, Dr. Maksoud realized that he wanted to become a physician to help prevent and treat such diseases.
A graduate of Alexandria University Medical School in Egypt, Dr. Maksoud completed a residency in internal medicine, and a fellowship in hematology and oncology, at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn. Dr. Maksoud has often utilized clinical trials in his treatment of patients. “I encourage patients with rare diseases to enroll in clinical trials. They are a very important form of treatment for many patients,” he explained.
